DIY Cedar Gazebo

With the warmer months ahead we thought it was time to freshen up our backyard space. Just like the rest of our home, we’ve slowly been updating things here and there. And I love spending time outside with the kids but our backyard has full sun from sunrise to sunset making the heat unbearable at times.

Thats why we were so happy when we found the 10 x 10 DIY Cedar Gazebo kit from SunJoy! It has really taken our outdoor space from just a backyard to an oasis. And with the added shade over our patio we no longer have to wait for the sun to go down to enjoy time out here. Even the dogs are loving this new outdoor hangout.

The kit was fairly easy to assessable and can be purchased here. We did need a third person to help with assembly, as at 10 x 10 standing up the posts was a bit awkward with just two people. My dad was willing to help so it wasn’t a problem at all.

With our team of three we were able to get the Gazebo fully assembled in one afternoon. The instructions come with tons of illustrations and everything is numbered making following the steps super simple. I’ll take an afternoon for a good DIY project if it means it saves use a tons of money as opposed to hiring someone to build us a gazebo. Plus you know us and our love for DIY so choosing this Gazebo Kit was a no brainer.

We love that the SunJoy Gazebo is made of cedar. Not only dose that mean its super sturdy but it will also be able to withstand the weather no problem. The two tier steel roof offers protection from the elements and provides ventilation. There’s even a spot to add a plugin ceiling fan or to hang a chandelier. We haven’t done either yet but a fan would be nice for those hot and humid summer days.

I was able to dress up the space by adding in our patio sectional and a couple wicker adirondack style chairs. We stung patio lights throughout which add some great ambiance at night. A few pillows and some throw blankets later and we now have a cozy outdoor space we can enjoy any time of day.
